You could try the game with Maptech - The user interface is really bad, but it has access to many of cards.

I tend to back and forth between Google Maps for mobile (with its "My Maps" feature of my route, which then have to load GMapToGPX GPX file on my computer, then play with him with mapmyhike - but that I represented to travel bag several times a day.

There seems no ball very nice web site to learn more dedicated. Someone get some hiking wikis, but I knew is gone.

You can immerse yourself in Wikitravel, but is generally focused on the trip goes wrong, and that the shortcomings of the wiki is often enormous, that no one (yet to be passed over in complete and may never).

MediaWiki WikiTrails not really yet exist, but point to several other websites Hiking: GORP.com, Trails.com and Traildatabase.org Slackpacker.com. I do not know Trails.com, because he wants the big money, but I do not know, orE. Other

I hope it will be great, but I try to order the National Geographic TOPO! Software anyway.

    UPDATE:
I'm not sure whether they are suitable for most hikers one days backcountry hiker, but I opened the latest issue of Backpacker magazine (June 2008) and is planning an article on the use of the Web and Electronic Equipment and document covering the route. They encourage the people to the package of $ 50 ExpertGPS (Windoze only, grrrr), or of course for any other use of websites backpacker.com (), summitpost.com, topo.com (National Geographic Channel), purchase, and paths. com.

    Update Update:
I just found this: Check GMAP pedometer.com - seems to be a sweet tool.
